Information on airspace restrictions for Commonwealth Games for commercial sub 2kg drone operators
Drone restrictions will be in place in some parts of Queensland during March and April 2018 as Australia hosts the Commonwealth Games (GC2018).
These temporary airspace restrictions are in addition to the normal airspace restrictions that apply to drone use.
The dates and times of these temporary airspace restrictions will vary according to location and events. Detailed information on these restrictions, including maps and the dates and times of these restrictions, is available on our website.
The Queensland Police Service, along with Federal agencies, will have major responsibility for public safety and security in the lead-up to, and during, GC2018. Queensland Police will actively enforce these restricted areas, and heavy penalties will apply.
As a commercial drone operator in the sub-2kg category flying under the standard operating conditions, you must not fly in restricted areas.
