I only use the guard. i have a pair of higher wider landing gear, but I don't use them. They don't fit in any of the cases or backpacks and I use a backpack.

Thanks for the info! Yeah I have seen people complain about having to remove the longer gear to get it to fit in a case.

I guess my other reason for asking was that I have read that people are getting the landing gear in their video/photos, etc. How much of this have you seen, and does the CF guard make this any worse? (I mean do you get the guard/stock gear in any shots, etc.)

I'm trying to make up my mind about getting the vision + and will most likely be hand/grab landing most of the time, but my main fear is the gimbal and the ribbon cable that seems to break if you stare at it the wrong way. I'm new to this hobby and don't want to have a small crash that then costs $800 more to fix the ribbon/gimbal.

What do you guys think?

Any other additional ways to protect the sensitive gimbal/ribbon?

I love my vision + and I'm glad I got it. I did have a light crash that resulted in a bent gimbal, that's why I made the camera guard. I've had two encounters with trees since I started flying with the guard and have had no damage to gimbal, ribbon, or guard, even though one crash resulted in bouncing off several main branches on the way to the ground. The phantom itself is pretty resilient.

The camera guard never gets in the video.

Thanks for all the info. I have decided to order the bird from B&H and should have it in a couple days. I'll be ordering the guard from you soon as well. I'm thinking of getting the GPS tracking unit (RF-V16) which should strap to the guard nicely with all the holes you have in it. Thanks again!
