Best settings for smooth video transmission

I have the crystal sky ultra bright. When flying today I noticed I had to crank up the HD settings to 10mbs to get fairly smooth video transmission live feed. On my old galaxy s5 I only had it set on 6mbs for smooth live feed. I'm flying on 2.4ghz. Any others have it set that high. Does it affect how far you can fly like that to still have good live feed?
