Altitude setting for a camera trigger point; Autopilot app

I am attempting to understand the 'altitude' setting for the trigger setting for a subject; I am using the Autopilot app.

The feature allows for a height adjustment positive or negative relative to the subject. What is the end result of changing the altitude for the trigger point?

I think it is actually the altitude of the POI, and would thus affect the gimbal angle. Not positive though. I am working my way through a lot of this as well.
