Active Track questions

Ok, I want to take off from my boat, set active track to follow the boat. I would like the drone (P4) to hover in position and track the boat as I go by. I will gen stop and bring the drone in and hand catch. (I do this most times)
Some questions. I want the drone yo stay put and not try to follow me. How do I set this up?

I am concerned about getting out of range and the drone tries to land. This will not be good as its above water. Any suggestions?

I would also like it to follow me, how fast can a P4 go while tracking?
