Control apps updates always lag behind release?

Thanks for the input Meta. Since I left the Phantom line for 3DR years ago-- a move I would come to regret (!)-- I haven't kept up with the speculation related to Phantoms. Currently using Mavic Air 2 and while quite satisfied, considering options long term.

Control apps updates always lag behind release?

When DJI comes out with a new model aircraft, is there an inevitable lag between that release and when control apps such as Litchi or DroneLink can add that to their software? Waited a very long time for Litchi to add the Mavic Air 2 only to abandon hope and switch to Drone Link which does...

    So what is broken here??

Thanks much for the input-- most appreciated. Yes, I did run through all of the calibrations and everything appeared to be normal. More evidence that leads me to believe you are correct in that the issue is internal to the gimbal itself. As I mentioned, the Phantom itself appears to fly just...

    So what is broken here??

After a crash the gimbal apparently took the brunt of the damage as one of the metal arms was bent back and had to be straightened with pliers. Now that everything is back together again, the Phantom 2 flies normally, but there's a problem with the gimbal camera elevation/angle control. When I...

    Ditching the vision plus

I switched from the Vision to the non-Vision for the reasons you state.

    After the crash??

Thanks for the details. I'm in the US but will look around and see if I can find one in stock somewhere. Would be good to stabilize the camera and keep it from flopping around.

    After the crash??

The Vision + I had previously (had to RMA) has that kind stabilizer. Really miss that w/ the 2. You made this yourself?

    After the crash??

What took you so long? Thanks much for the quick response. I may have to try this method myself.

    After the crash??

Ah, so I'm not the only one. :) Thanks for the input. I guess it wouldn't hurt to order some extras while I'm at it. Fairly new to the Phantom 2 but have flown enough to become quite comfortable with it-- even around some obstacles given there's not a lot of wide open space around the house...

    After the crash??

For whatever reason the Phantom 2 just stopped responding to the controller. Just beginning to start to figure out what that was all about. The Phantom looks to be ok (outwardly at least) but the H3-3D gimbal was damaged. Hopefully it can be rescued. I need to straighten out one of the metal...

    The ULTIMATE Phantom?

Learning a lot reading the exchanges here. I've seen a few posts describing how a stock Phantom could be tricked out with various accessories to enhance overall performance. Curious to know if money was no object, starting with an off-the-shelf Phantom, what would you add/modify to come up with...

At what point is home position recorded

If only the manual explained it so well! From the manual: So, reading this I never was sure just what constituted a "different location". From front yard to back yard? From one town to the next?? New York to New Jersey??? Now OTOH, the concept of magnetic declination I'm familiar with...

    Well, I killed it.

Thanks much for the detailed suggestions. However after following all of these procedures (multiple times in fact) and speaking with a number of folks where I made the initial purchase with no resolution found, I'm sending the Phantom back for a refund. There's also the issue with the phone arm...

using phantom+ for business faa sucks!!!!

Good point. I'd want to know exactly who was calling and what their position and contact info was at the FAA. Not uncommon for potential competitors-- or even just your random malcontent-- to make calls like this pretending to be of an official nature.
