My experience with the AMA is they look on UAVs and those that operate them as some sub-culture...they'll take our money but when you go to a AMA meet and show up with a UAV, you get quickly dismissed. Based on this I question how strongly they would advocate for our community.
Do we have a voice? Manufactures like DJI and others make their desires known to those legislating UAV use, but do we the UAV owner/user population have a "lobbying group" to ensure our concerns are heard not only by the government but also corporate UAV entities. We certainly can debate the...
The State of Maryland (i.e. The General Assembly) has only assumed authority for enacting any regulation or restriction on drone use anywhere within the State of Maryland but in accordance with federal (i.e. FAA) regulations and guidance. So they're not playing their own thing, just keeping...

Most officers I've encountered will either totally ignore you or display some degree of curiosity or outright interest in what you are doing. I've let officers try their hands at the controls and maybe even made a sale for DJI at least once.
On the other side of the coin, if you are ever asked...
The municipality can control launch from indicated locations; however, they do not control the airspace, this is the jurisdiction of the FAA and unless 'restricted' from flight by the FAA, you are within your lawful rights to launch from outside these areas and overfly (while recognizing other...
