That would be incredible customer service if they did. Drone is of 2017 vintage, so I couldn't imagine them warrantying something 5 years old, though it has never been in a crash or had any kind of hard landing. Maybe I'll reach out to them.

Yes but what if the drone still has the target but RC signal is lost? For example, if I'm tracking a car but the remote control is not in the car. Eventually it may go out of signal range but still have the subject locked on.
In active Track or spotlight, if the subject being tracked moves out of RC range does the drone continue to follow the subject indefinitely? Or will the Drone RTH? Or hover in place?
I did the same thing with my Phantom 4 when I got it last year. No trouble resulted from it.
Now if I only could quit forgetting to remove the plastic gimbal lock before powering up my P4 and P4P+, i'd be all set. I forget to do this often and am afraid that one day it will cause damage.
