What power source to use for Immersion RC 5.8GHz 600mW Tx

I'm in the process of troubleshooting some less-that expected range issues. I read in another thread something about the Immersion Tx performing better when drawing power from a regulated voltage source. Is this true? I currently have it connected to the 3S flight battery. Having a Phanto 1.0, what are my options of getting clean power for my Immersion Tx?

You can see my current setup in my sig below.

I am doubtful about this, as the Immersion has on board regulation and supply filtering.

For range issues, I would look first at poor antenna matching and construction. Expensive aerials really do make a difference, as does ensuring things like polarisation are correct for TX and RX.

I think the 250mW FatShark (Immersion) Tx needed a separate filter when connecting straight to a battery but as noiseboy said it shouldn't be an issue with the one you have. I've connected mine to the battery and to a regulated supply (Phantom's aux lead) and seen no difference in performance or quality of signal.

Great! One less thing to worry about. Thanks for the replies.
