Will DJI still honor the warranty on the bird if the controller has been modified??

Well that really depends on what mods you have done to the controller.
To be honest they will probably class any mods as an alteration to that package and refuse a warranty claim.
The only way to really know would be to contact them and if so, get it in writing, good luck
