Hello. I'm a new phantom owner. I was wondering if the videos and pictures I record while flying can be stored on my iPhone directly? Or do they all just store on the SD card?

Lower resolution cached video and photos can be stored (set up within settings) bit full resolution pictures and videos are only stored on the SD card. While connected you can transfer these files to your device but it's slow and I don't recommend trying this with more than a picture or two.
