Just a question to you guys.In your opinion is it safe to use the Gopro wireless remote with the Phantom 2?I really like the Phantom but it would be nice to have some way to control the camera in flight so I could change from video to stills etc..

It's highly not recommended. The WiFi can/does affect the TX signal and could cause loss of control. If you own a GoPro 3 there's an internal setting where you take video and time lapse pics at same time.
Are you meaning the Gopro app or the wireless remote that comes with the Gopro?With the wireless remote you are not streaming video from the Gopro.
You should not use the gopro wireless at all. Disable wifi on your gopro if flying it on your phantom. It can interfere with the control signal.
