Remote controller and dji assistant software

Was in the process of updating the bird and plugged the remote into the computer as directed in the manual. The computer beeped so it recognized the presence of the remote. The software did not see the remote so I could not update. Any ideas?

Turn on your remote and your P2V and connect the P2V to the computer. Remote uses RC assistant software (different program). Main controller refers to the board inside the aircraft, not your transmitter (I know it's a bit confusing).
