Photo and Video Editing

What are people using for photo and video editing. I am not able to see any of my RAW photos. I can only view in JPEG. not looking to spend a fortune on software. Thanks for any help.

Ufraw is freeware for raw photo manipulation i just started playing with it last week so still baffling what to change when but it has lots of potential.

I just have whatever came on the computer. Think it's just Microsoft photo viewer.
