I've been getting about 1/2 mile range with my P4pro. Tried changing channels and frequency band to optimize and that's the best I've got. Is the Mavic range better than this or about the same? Thanks!

I was only getting about 3/4 of a mile range. Did some math (actually my Daughter did it) on tree height and my position with the RC and found out I needed more height for a clear line of sight. Added the height AND a set of windsurfers, I can out fly my battery now.

Yeah I do better with higher altitude -- get a nice LOS. Still, I can't get much beyond a 1/2 mile or so. Going to try the windsurfers...

I guess so. I have clear LOS... my guess is all the Wi-Fi - I live in a dense suburban area. Going to the middle of nowhere next week so I'm going to range it out there.
Just wondered . I have no noise where I fly and the mavic will go what it says under 200 ' with full signal stock. Everything has to be right though like no wind not to hot just the regular stuff . Really don't know what it would do in a urban area . Wouldn't try anyway .

Are you flying on 5.8Ghz AUTO? That's the secret to distance, against expectations that 2.4Ghz work better.....because it doesn't. I can easily exceed 3 miles with a windsurfer on 5.8Ghz. Gadget guy goes beyond 4mi over suburban San Diego all day long, but you need LOS connection. No trees, buildings or mountains between your RC and the craft.

Thanks.. I'll try. It does seem like I got better range with 2.4.. but I'll tinker.

Never heard them called that. They must work.
Oh yeah, they work great, almost as good as a $130 DBS2 Itelite directional antenna. The key advantage is this doesn't alter the RC so warranty isn't affected, unlike with a Itelite antenna that a modification to the radio, not to mention it stores easier in a backpack. Great value. If you use Litchi, which displays signal percentage instead of bars, you can see how much it improves signal by hovering a mile away, then remove the windsurfer and put it back on. Works very good.

My phantom 4 pro goes to 2 miles but then I bring it back because I don't want the battery getting low all the way out there. But try a custom channel and operate on 5.8Gz. That always made it smoother for me.
