Any other cool stuff to add/upgrade on your phantom?
I was thinking of a backpack. Have anyone any experience with these?
upgrades, not really you're basically done. With that transmitter and antennas your FPV performance should exceed the operational capacity of your Phantom. The only other mods you can put on a P2 is the Ground Station which I think is pointless, or the Lightbridge (HD FPV) which I also think is pointless because it's so expensive.
I think backpacks are a great way to transport it, especially if you go out into nature at all like are you going to hike up the side of a mountain with a massive wheeled hard case? also to fly on planes with I prefer the backpack it's a lot easier to carry on.
There is no shortage of backpacks claiming to work with a Phantom 2, but in my opinion the best is the
Vanguard UpRise II 48. It's a photography backpack (well padded) designed to carry 2 DSLR's and lenses, so there's a bunch of internal little wall pieces you can arrange perfectly to accommodate a Phantom and accessories... many of the backpacks don't factor in things multiple batteries, FPV screen, antennas, etc. My Vanguard takes the Phantom, the RC and display (detached) in the upper part, antennas, and I still have room for 3 extra batteries, chargers for the P2 batteries and FPV screen, extra props, and a little toolkit and a few other things (I carry extra AA batteries for my RC, snack bars, and other non-Phantom stuff).
This is the video that convinced me, although I do arrange it a bit differently. Where he puts the FPV screen is where I put the batteries and chargers, I put the FPV screen up where he also has the RC.
OH and if you're going to be carrying it in a backpack, you definitely want something to secure the gimbal so it doesn't flop around. There are many different choices, especially on Shapeways... basically a nice 3D-printed thing that attaches either to the gimbal or gopro and hooks to a leg so the gimbal can't move around.
