P4P+ what's the memory card for the remote do?

What's the purpose of this function on the remote/screen? To store videos? Or something else?

As the p4p+ manual says the micro card is needed for the upgrade of the remote software you download it from de Dji Site if a new version available copy to the microcard and follow the instrucions aldo no the Site

I use mine to store my extra card in case I leave the normal one in the computer when I leave. Has saved me twice so far.
