Hello guys, I bought a phantom 3 standard a week ago but I think I have a jello issue. I updated the firmware, calibrated everything, balanced propellers etc and the jello remains. I have previous experience with DIY 450 quadcopter and cheap (50$) gimbal where I did all the tricks to reduce jello but did not expect such a thing from a phantom and do not know what to do.

Here are few clips.

Can you please share your opinion is that too much jello and what should I do. Does anybody have experience with such a problem?

How many gimbal pins do you have installed?

Mine had jello - another few guts I knew had it .... cure was to reseat the gimbal arm.

At top of the L arm that carries the camera is a black grubscrew. At factory - they probably did not seat the arm fully on its bearing before tightening the screw. It only needs a tiny amount and jello results.

Slack the screw and then push the arm onto its seat 'down' ... tighten while still pressing arm down.

Make sure screw is tight. It is a 1.5mm hex screw - same as on RC helis ....

Test fly.

I don't say this is answer - but possibility. Suggest check props for damage ... balance .... calibrations ... everything first then the screw.

My YouTube channel has before and after examples ... solentlifeuk

Here I cut the most noticeable jello in one clip

Nigel thanks for your advice. I looked at your channel and it seems like my jello is way less then your initial jello but more than your jello after the fix. I do not know if I have to send it for repair or I can handle it. I checked the props and they seems well balanced. However all the propellers tend to be slightly bent in the way that they do not spin in one and the same plain - one blade appears lower than the other at the same point in space when rotating. I do not know if that matters as they are flexing upward when rotating faster and could self-align.

Props are cheap enough, they only cost anywhere from 5 to $15. depending on what you buy. Your setup should include an extra pair anyway that you could just switch out for elimination.

I just check the spare ones and they spin the same way. I think the motors are misaligned as well. I will make a video about that. Its interesting that I always catch the drone and its never been crashed / hit ... brand new. However I could not make a flight today as the weather was bad. I also tried to push the L arm axis into its bearing but its not moving at all.

I highly doubt the motors are misaligned. But you can try the screw thing that Solentlife told you about.

The motors on the P3 are actually not square horizontal to body but each angled slightly - this gives better stability and inclination to fly.

As to jello .... after my fix - I have no jello at all. None that I can see anyway.

I don't actually see any jello in the edited video.

Anyone else ?

When I loon the clips on my 23" monitor jello is well obvious. The main question now is should I return the copter or try to fight the jello on my own.

Did you try that screw adjustment thing that another member suggested?

I just check if the screw is tightened and it seems ok. Also the arm seems well positioned. I do not want to unscrew and re-position is as it is under guarantee and anything could cancel it.

No, loosing a screw and re-tightening it is not going to void a guarantee. It's your problem and it sounds like something to try, know I would if it were me. Unless you think DJI has a hidden camera in your place, how would they know?

I sent it back to DJI. Their support confirm it should not film like that. I will update you when it came back hopefully with some good news.
