I have flown in a dozen Ohio State Parks often in full view of park rangers & no one said a word. I fly within FAA guidelines, seeking airstrip & heliport permission when needed. I fly away from people & in remote area. Generally speaking I go up & pan around engaging in aerial photography.

Today, I was flying over hang gliders that were out on the ice in a central Ohio State Park. I was more than a half mile from the dam. A sheriff came around & told me it is illegal to fly in Corp of Engineer land which would include all ODNR land. BTW- the same rule should have made the hsng gliders illegal.

This is the second time this has happened. The first time I was flying directly in front of the dam. In that case, I was told I simply needed to get further from the dam.

Does anyone know of a contact in OFNR that I could appeal to? I believe if people are flying within FAA rules, many of issues go away. Then if people are violating those rules, then site those folks.
