I bought the P3S at target in March, and have flown 150+ flights with it. Got the P4 a month later, as I had the flying bit down, at that point.
Having a great 'beater' bird to try new tricks (waypoints, circle points of interest, follow me), with virtually identical flight / operating characteristics has helped me get to a great comfort level flying, so I can focus on what the DJI platform excels at - awesome video and aerial pics.
Once I have the mission down, it's time to put the P4 in the sky.
