Need Suggestions for Two-Way Radio Equipment for Air Traffic Communication

I may be a little late on this but the best explanation for the semi-interested passerby is: It is good practice to have a radio to listen to ATC and CTAF but it is best not to actually communicate on these lines unless there is an emergency and/or you are attempting to avoid a collision with a manned aircraft. Otherwise, you are just unnecessarily clogging up crucial frequencies. If you need to ask for permission to operate within 5 nautical miles of an airport, call or submit an online request to the ATC.
