as you all know our elected leadership (Dinosours) have yet to come up with a solid plan to help the public understand the limits of this technology and there should without a doubt be limits/regulations we all should follow simply to insure those that dont understand wont fear......!

Here is a great article sent to me that should spark great insightful, thought provoking, forward thinking conversation.

We are gonna need it as there will be laws soon passed down that will effect everyone here.

Radio-controlled drones have revolutionized the video industry. But after the United States government's use of drone technology in Iraq and Afghanistan, drones are under a huge legal and ethical microscope.

Is it only me who is sick to death of Paranoia exhibited by "certain" countries? For goodness sake, big brother is watching us every minute of every day and THEY are the ones getting twitchy about model aircraft now?

I find myself longing more and more for an outbreak of normality these days.

No doubt a whole raft of laws will be issued at some point written by cretins who have Zero, or less, understanding about any aspect of the hobby.

To me it's a model aircraft not entirely dissimilar to a modern model helicopter (Which you can also make autonomously capable of waypoint navigation). Call it a drone and all the morons immediately start thinking of a 300lb supersonic death machine, there's no wonder the politicians are keen to protect the great unwashed public from this latest fear, cheap votes.

You make too much sense! No soup for you lol

The drone industry industry is growing by leaps and bounds and is experiencing a shortage of drone pilots. Guess where drone pilots come from? I think that the Quadcopter market just needs to figure out how to wrap a flag around their "hobby" and realize that the government really can use a few of us. (not me though,I am busy)

The simple solution is to ignore the laws. This country (US) has passed far too many laws that are unconstitutional. I choose to ignore those that are in that category so I do a lot of ignoring...

Yup! I like you. :)

Regarding these laws, I recently heard someone say, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission."

The Photographer's Bill of Rights is an interesting read. http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm I keep a copy with me whenever I am out photographing and now when flying my drone.

I think that video capture is protected for the same reasons photography is; it is a form of expression.

I also believe that every time a law prohibiting video or photography has been challenged in court, these laws have been struck down.

I think our hobby is safe, but there may be some rough spots at first when people are forced to go to court to protect their rights.
