Today was the second time in one week where complete non rc people asked me about phantoms and follow me mode. I said it's just a matter of time and software. But as a long time rc guy, I have about as much interest in it, as I told them, as cleaning toilets. To a flyer, operator, rc pilot or whatever we call ourselves, what's the point? Ok, I'm up on the mountain skiing every other day, but after filming myself a few times, its a "that's me again, skiing down the mountain, one fixed filming angle, blah blah. Then there is that tree in the way of my 1000 euro quadcopter. I told both of these non rc folks this and they were like, yeah, I don't see the point either. Maybe a cheap *** 200 euro drone to follow you ok. But a 1000 euro, gymballed, fully controllable drone to follow you, hmmm, nah. Nice in theory, will be done, but not for everyone. And say, fifty of these, every day on the mountain? With trees and lift cables everywhere? Anyway, let's see where it progresses and I'll have about as much interest in it as sitting in a Porsche or Ferrari with hands off autopilot. Now if I were really into watching myself doing stuff on my mountain bike or skis to no end...... But I find it interesting how this interests complete non rc people with zero experience having ever controlled anything by remote other than a television.
