From an email I get: Drone Maker Reveals Tracking Feature

I know this has been in the news before, but I believe this adds new information about it.

"The company said the new features allow drone pilots to “voluntarily identify” their flight operations to authorities while still protecting their privacy and allowing authorities to remotely identify and track drones. "

The skeptic in me says the info is private until <wink> <wink> some government agency just plainly asks DJI what info they have about USER ID XXXXXX. There is no warrant needed when a company voluntarily gives information.

Taking a look at the DJI Privacy policy DJI Privacy Policy - Everything You Need To Know states:
  • We may preserve and disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with applicable laws, in response to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, warrant or request, or to otherwise cooperate with law enforcement or other governmental agencies.
So your info is private, until it isn't.
