Downloading raw media - a basic question.

Specific question here: if I download from the drone to the computer via a usb cable do I get the same quality raw media as if I used a SD card reader to transfer the media from the card to the computer?

Seems like the answer should be 'yes' but I need to double check as I journey along the path towards better resolution in my final videos.
