I know where to go to change the amount of time for my intelligent batteries to discharge such as ten days, but if I want to change to say five days, how does the info get to the batteries, do you have to put each batteries in and start up? I have four of them

You need to change that setting in DJI GO while each battery is installed in your Phantom and your Phantom is connected to DJI GO. You'll also need to reset that setting whenever new firmware is installed on your batteries.
