Anyone know anything about optical ground sensor?

I am making a carbon fiber gimbal protector and need to cut a hole for the sensor to see the ground. Would like to know how large the whole needs to be. Sensor type/size, lens, fov, anything would be more than I know now.

Done. Light as can be and solid as steel. I love this stuff.
