40+mph Skate Video

Hey guys. I founded a company that manufactures skateboards and snowboards (still real small!) and I have been using my Phantom 2 to help film for our introductory video. It's not all shot from the quad, but I think everyone here will appreciate how well the aerial shots add to the overall product.

We were driving at 45mph when my Phantom started to not be able to keep up (slight nose wind) and the skaters were making space between them and the car. Pretty quick!

Any feed back is greatly appreciated! Positive or negative

Looked like good flying.....tough to stay that close and not cut off necessary body parts!

good video but if i were shooting a real production video for a brand I would make sure props or phantom motors never ever shown in the footage.

despite of this fact, i believe your edit is quite nice.

Haha thanks! I've been practicing this kind of shot a lot. Still not where I'd like to be overall but being able to follow, film, and descend down these hills while flying at top speed is a solid start!

Thanks for the feedback! If this were for another company, or a different industry I'd be pretty worried about the motor arms in frame. IMO skaters won't think it's a bad thing, they'll probably be intrigued, and also most skate videos aren't anything with high production value so the expectations aren't super high haha.




That got me to thinking though, I'd like to mod my landing gear so the front legs aren't visible, and add some wheels just in case I tap the ground going 40 with a bunch of skaters and a car around

Cool stuff. I've been skating since I was 13 and am over 40 now . . .

What firmware version are you running on your P2? I used to be able to get 40mph+ with 1.08 but since updating to the latest, 3.02 it's so slow now

Rad that you skate still! It's so much fun, I hope I never stop.

I'm on 1.08. When I first started upgrading I had issues and just reverted.
