I doubt that it is to do with a firmware upgrade. I flew on a Saturday afternoon and all was good. On the Sunday morning it could hardly reach 100m. No changes were made to the drone, firmware or any settings.

Mine does the same when the battery level drops below 30%. When a charged battery is inserted, all the lights are back to normal, I don't think you need to be concerned, sounds normal to me.
