Kevin, I have no idea, and that has nothing to do with the thread I started here about my P3S gimbal roll issue, so you’ll be more likely to get relevant responses if you start your own thread…

tl;dr: Camera slowly rolls to the left, then the right, then repeats, whenever it's powered on, flying or not. Details: I bought a crashed P3S, and I've replaced the gimbal's main board, all three motors*, roll and pitch ESC boards, and some of the arms. Camera and gimbal work mostly correctly...

Update: Replaced Roll and Pitch ESC boards, and another DJI ribbon cable, and it initializes and flies fine! No cables melting, and full pitch control! Only remaining issues now are a) camera roll slowly drifts through its full left to right range and back, and b) occasional camera flickers, but...

Welp.. replaced the ribbon cable (DJI) and pitch motor, powered up, gimbal didn’t move at all, and it immediately started to burn the cable in the same spot — the trace immediately adjacent to the surface of the roll motor, between roll board and pitch board. (See attached photo.) I’ve already...

Just ordered OEM cable, and a pitch motor, last night. My only concern is avoiding burning the new cable, too; is it most likely an overheated roll motor due to lack of airflow that caused the damage visible in the photo I attached?

Not OEM (didn’t learn that was a common issue until later), and yes, this was after ribbon cable replacement. In retrospect, pretty sure I smelled it during a previous firmware update attempt.

I posted recently about gimbal and RC link issues with my P3S; it’s a crashed drone I bought and repaired, replaced the gimbal board, yaw motor (rotated roughly), roll motor (had broken apart), and ribbon cable (had sheared), synced to RC by shorting the missing sync button, updated FW...

So! After another FW update or two, I successfully calibrated the compass, and the IMU, and took a successful flight! Only remaining issues are a) no gimbal pitch control or stability — it just pitches to whatever position gravity and momentum dictate, not held steady by the automatic controls...

Improvement! I successfully synced RC to aircraft, so now I’ve progressed to “attempt to calibrate compass, where it complains about Strong Magnetic Interference“, and probably IMU calibration as well.

Thanks for the tips! Before I go to the trouble of adjusting the magnet on the yaw shaft — I found a video involving acetone and a small torch to gently break the magnet free of its adhesive — I adjusted the arm on the shaft, by just about 90°, and the gimbal seems to stabilize pretty close to...
