Dang, I missed that part. My bad and sorry for the confusion.

U.S. Department of Transportation Issues Two Much-Anticipated Drone Rules

Bill, I'm unaware that Part 107 testing changed. Yes, earlier this year expiring certificates were given an extension. But that's all I know of. AFAIK (and I know I'll be corrected if wrong) only Hobby/Rec flyers get the new on-line test. Part 61 pilots (with a valid biannual flight review)...

U.S. Department of Transportation Issues Two Much-Anticipated Drone Rules

The new rules for remote ID and flying over people and at night are out. Remote ID: https://www.faa.gov/news/media/attachments/RemoteID_Executive_Summary.pdf Over people & night operations: https://www.faa.gov/news/media/attachments/OOP_Executive_Summary.pdf The full rule...

Don't forget to renew your 107 aircraft registration

While transferring some paper documents from one pocket to the other in my HiGlow Safety Vest I was checking that there wasn't extra / old stuff I didn't need. One of the documents was my FAA sUAS registration of P3 that I used for Part 107 flights. Looking at that registration I see that it's...

The city of Santa Monica no fly zone

You can view & search the municipal code here: Santa Monica Municipal Code (Santa Monica, California) I could not find the word(s) drone, uav, sUAS, uas, etc. I do see some restrictions in section " 4.55.110 Park and beach—Remote control models. " What I do find is "model plane" to include...

    Light for P3P

dranders: You are aware, of course, that to meet FAA specs the anti-collision light needs to be seen for the full 360 degrees around the drone, right? It is so that other aircraft can see your drone. I neglected to mention that the one I used in my tests have the 6 led's in a circle facing...

    Actual GPS signal strength?

I'm looking or the actual data that comes out of the GPS on the drone. Different GPS's will have different antenna, pre-amps, receivers so an external one won't mimic what the DJI one reports. I'll most likely get a CANBUS module to tap into / read what is being received by the internal GPS module.

    Light for P3P

Hmmm, I've not seen this discussion. My experience is the opposite. I just ran a test. Indoors with a P3S, which only does (AFAIK and specs say) USA GPS. I have 7 sat's locked in. According to Live World Map of Satellite Positions - In-The-Sky.org, 7 sat's are in view above 20 deg. and 4 of...

    Actual GPS signal strength?

Do any of the on-board / transmitted data logs show the actual individual GPS satellite signal strength? Ideally I'd like to see what is normally shown on many stand alone receivers: For each satellite the signal strength, orbit (RA / Dec) position and RDOP.

    Stone Harbor NJ Bans Drones

2005? Odd. I think that's the initial date and this is an amendment. I first found the meeting minutes that contained them at http://stoneharbornj.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/November-6-2018-Regular-Meeting.pdf. The Mayor (Judith M. Davies-Dunhour, Mayor ) shown at the bottom of the...

    Stone Harbor NJ Bans Drones

Here is the ordinance https://ecode360.com/documents/ST2163/source/LF1056464.pdf 95% is standard FAA stuff. The other 5% contains things like: Words like "vex, annoy, disturb, frighten" are so broad and could be invoked for any minutia. To not allow photography of someone in public that...

    107.29 and AirMap

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I hope with LANNC rolled out, the time it takes for an airspace authorization has dropped from from the 150 days that my last one took. Even so, I'll plan on submitting authorizations for July 4th fireworks filming soon, just in case. As an aside, my 107.29...

    107.29 and AirMap

So I've now received my 107.29 exemption. It's worded exactly like the hundreds of others that have been issued. I've used AirMap.io on my iPhone to get airspace authorization in Class C & D airspace during the day. Now, when I try to get a Class C authorization at the same location I've...

    Course Lock????

At the moment you activate Course Lock, the direction the P3 is pointing is locked in. Let's say it's pointing north when you do that. Push the right stick forward and it goes north. Pull the stick back and it goes south. Now rotate it 90 deg. CCW so it points west. Again pushing the right...

    Airmap LAANC "Rejected Upon Submission"

Same issue here in Rochester NY with the iPhone & Android app for the exact same area & lower altitude that I've gotten instant authorization before. Then I hit the Submit button, it said my flight plan had been submitted and it went back to the main screen. I didn't receive any TXT msg as I...
