I've had the same experience and what I discovered is that the USB connection from the RC to the viewing device is loose and make an intermittent connection. Make sure your connectors are snug. Now when the message "Aircraft Disconnected" pops up that's an entirely different matter.

It was an old National Balance.

The battery was sent back with my original P4 and I informed DJI that battery was involved in the crash. They sent it back with the new P4 so I am assuming they inspected it and by the way, that battery was almost "brand new" as it had only been used twice before the crash.

Because the first time it happened back in January I waited and waited only to discover my P4 fell out of the sky and was severely injured. So I rashly assumed it happened again. And yes I always check the RTH function before leaving the ground.

Received good news today, my Phantom 4 is being repaired at no cost to me. It should be home in about a week. What a relief that was.

What I meant by my hands not on control was that I had the RC in my hands but I was not touching the joy sticks. And yes I had a neck strap on.
