I often fly from the base of hills that may be 1000+ feet high. 400 feet doesn't allow me to fly up ravines to scout hiking trails. I never see anything like this. Only the vocal message saying "Altitude limit reached. "

I haven't. I had to re-install GO (3.1.52) (don't remember why) but was weary of it not working. It did, no worries.
Off subject, more and more apps say they are not compatible with my Tab Pro 12.2 so it's not surprising you have that problem.
No problems with mine. Just disabled nearly all apps and GO. Screen is bright, handles Las Vegas' heat, battery lasts for several flights.
Latest software isn't always best.
I always have one in my case. I have forgotten my tablet or glasses (always have my phone and a pair of glasses in the car), but never have been left without SD card to record to.

It is easy to make it write protected using an adapter since it is read-only when the slider is in the positoin in the photo above. It must be towards the bottom to enable writing. Just be careful when inserting the adapter into the slot to not move the slider.
