According to someone else on the dji forums, this is a firmware issue something to do with the gimbal sensitivity. They have a beta firmware that's supposed to fix the issue. I contacted someone at DJI to find out about that.

You're right - it's the camera gimbal. If i use the remote to rotate the camera pointing down, it starts making that sound. I did try moving the gimbal by hand while it was powered down and it felt smooth in all directions.

Just took it out of the box and turned it on, and it's making a noise which doesn't sound right to me. Already checked and firmware is latest.
