It's not just being near a magnet either. Being near metal at take off can mess it up. Make sure you don't take off from concrete with rebar in it )or near other metal). I have had that mess up my compass. (Although it usually straightens out once I get high enough).
Yes this article is correct according to a Federal Judge friend of mine (after an experience I had at Cabrillo National Monument). Aircraft are defined as "manned" in 36 CFR, so it doesn't really apply to UAVs. They can of course ban the use of drone locally by passing an ordnance not allowing...
Warning Taco Gimbal
Just a word of warning. My Taco gimbal was working fine, but I started to notice some yaw movement in the video after only about 8-10 flights. I was trying to adjust the settings when I noticed the gimbal was very loose at the base plate connection. There are only two screws...
Yeah, I have heard that in rumors too. I don't really see how the FAA will police individuals. But for companies that will be doing it (like in my case), we will have to follow to rules to stay in the business and keep our clients trust. Certification will also allow people to get insurance...
The FAA appealed the federal ruling though, so that decision is stayed for now (but it still really isn't illegal). The sense and avoid stuff will be required for flying out of the line of sight. This was also apparently a big problem in Afghanistan with the Predators. If they lose control...
Re: New Plug-N-Play 3DPower Gimbal (aka Taco Supreme)
I found the Simpe BGS manual so disregard previous question. I found this regarding losing horizon:
AHRS - options influencing camera angle determination accuracy.
◦ Gyro trust – The higher is value, the more trust to the gyro data compared...
Re: New Plug-N-Play 3DPower Gimbal (aka Taco Supreme)
I got my Taco gimbal (plug n play) yesterday and got it installed and working pretty well thanks to this awesome blog. I have the same issue with starting horizontal and then sometimes getting a little slanted. If I roll back and forth...
I was wondering that exact same thing. I was looking online for a place to learn to read the flight maps (briefly), but didn't see anything. Is there a place online that explains them? I would like to read them to make sure I am in compliance near airports.
Thanks!
It may be that they are just trying to tie it up in court (the appeal stays the judges decision) until they can come out with their regulations for UAS under 55 pounds in Nov. (Not that anyone is really stopping commercial flights anyway from what I read...)
I has the same issues with the HTC One disconnecting, I finally had to put it int airplane mode and then turn the wifi back on while in AP mode and connect. It stayed connected then.
