    Register the drone

You are correct that a unique certification may be used on more than one qualified drone under 336. I recently had to re-apply for a new certification for the same drone when I went from recreational pilot to a 107 licensed pilot. Thanks for clarifying the question.

    Register the drone

No, according to the FAA, recreational fliers must register as well. See quote from FAA below. “You are considered a recreational user if you fly your drone for fun, as a hobby. It is important to know when and where you can fly and how to register your drone. Step 1: Register Your Drone Even...

    Register the drone

I would add, if you previously registered a drone and you now have a different drone, you need to make a new registration application for the new drone. Every drone should have it’s own registration number displayed on the outside of the drone. *Moderator Edit*: The above applies for Part 107...

    Where to Fly

I’m a 107 pilot, but I thought the 5 mile rule applied to recreational as well as 107 pilots. Thanks for clarifying this difference.

    Mid Tennessee Area

Thanks for your reply. The laws in Tennessee are not that restrictive, but I was wondering if USAS pilots who live in Mid-Tennessee could recommend good areas to fly my drone?

    Where to Fly

Thanks for the link mdasbach, from what I can see the AC does not say I’m prohibited from flying because I’m within 5 miles of a non-towered airport. However, what I’m really looking for is places to fly in Middle-Tennessee other than my backyard. I live in a sub-division and my neighbors...

    Mid Tennessee Area

I live in Lebanon, TN and I’m new to this hobby. I have a Phantom 4 Pro V.2 and I asked the same question. Where do people fly in this area? All of the state parks in Tennessee van drones as far as I know, other wise Fall Creek Falls would be a spectacular place to fly. Let’s hope others in the...

    Where to Fly

No, B4UFly is the free FAA app., but there are other apps. that may tell you it’s ok to fly. Hover and Drone Buddy are two that I use. B4UFly is being updated so the new version should be significantly better.

Glad you reported the discrepancy. The updated version, once it’s finished, should be more accurate.

    Where to Fly

2edgesword, thank you for your reply. The FAA application, B4uFly, states, "Warning - Action Required, Your are within 5 miles of an airport. By Law, you must notify the airport operator and the air traffic control tower (if one is present) of your flight." Since M54, Lebanon Municipal Airport...

    Where to Fly

Hi, I live in Lebanon, TN, just east of Nashville, TN. I have a Phantom 4 Pro V.2 which I would like to fly. I'm prohibited from flying where I live due to being within 5 miles of a small (no control tower) municipal airport. I would like to know where other forum members who may live in or...
