I wonder if an occasional change in the prop sound while flying could be an indication of this problem and not just the usually assumed wind compensating sound.

Regarding this possible momentary current reversal glitch when ascending at full throttle.. I have a P2V+v2 and I'm currently flying 3.08. Am I likely to possibly experience that glitch if I upgrade to 3.12, or does it look like that glitch is limited to just the P2V+v3 ESC electronics?
It appears it is in the newer version ESC, or that is the thinking. I have the same Phantom as you, never thrown a prop but I tighten anyway.
