So there is no firmware update as part of the app update? I could have sworn I read that the firmware had to be as well

The app could be updated at any time and there does not need to be a firmware update.

Its funny, I haven't even been prompted to take an update. It did prompt me to say there was an update coming but I haven't seen anything else about it.

Same here. I keep getting the "Update is coming next week" box with each new start but the Android tablet has not updated.

My Android phone DID update on the first day and I did the mandatory login with no problems.

I keep checking for updates in the DJI Go4 app but it says I'm up to date on the tablet in spite of still running 4.07.
