Wow! Did the folks at 0:25 and 2:55 build up some surrounding buffer to prevent those homes from being flooded? It looks like there was some very slim margin of elevation that kept those homes from taking on water.
Flooding was caused be a canal wall washing out. Water normally would have never have gotten that high. It took them 10 days to stop the water. All the land under water is now ruined for farming. All houses stayed dry in the main floors.
It happened at 4:00am with no warning. No sandbagging just luckily built it that high
Wow! The water is coming and there is nothing you can do about it. It reminds me of Super Storm Sandy. You knew it was coming but you can't move your house. It was a feeling of helplessness for the folks on the coast where no amount of sandbagging was going to help the situation. A lot of people recovery but some never did.
