As some may recall - my P3Pro failed on change of FW and it was likely that the Version 1 board was corrupted by DJI vers 3 FW.

The P3Pro was flying before FW change ... albeit with video faults.

I decided to try roll back FW and reset all to see if video etc. could be corrected. BHAM - all went tits up and I took it to DJI Dealer in Riga who were very good.

The P3Pro was packed of to Netherlands Repair Centre and after I prompt for info ..... I get following back as reported by Netherlands DJI :

Craft has IMU error
OFDM and Gimbal bend
No warranty repairs

Now I am not a DJI engineer - but I am also not stupid. OK - I was resigned to possibly not warranty as I did buy 2nd hand. BUT I looked at the logs and data on her from original new right through ... NO CRASHES ... nothing to indicate damage or incidents.

I have no argument with Riga DJI ... they have been as good as they can be. But I am having trouble believing DJI Netherlands.

The fact it flew .. the logs were fine ... and it was only changing of FW that the machine failed.

Really not impressed. It remains now to be seen what sort of bill I get ...

As expected ... DJI Forum has removed all traces of this Post on their site.

I appreciate they may not like the post - but it would be better I feel if they would discuss and rebutt if needed. But to just delete and not even tell the author ?

A forum in my opinion is to have the good and bad reports. DJI could use the forum much better as a tool to really get info instead of sterilising it ..

I'm really sorry to hear your bad news. I don't understand why they'd quote for items that are working fine; can you not speak to them and challenge them on this?
Re. your other point, I'm afraid that critical thread removal is typical of many manufacturers, not just DJI and it's not a "Chinese" thing either. Microsoft, HP and Dell have done it for ever, as have Adobe, Vodafone and Sky, to name but a few.

Guys in Riga are discussing with them ... but I don't expect any changes ...

It will be the last DJI item I will consider .. shame as well ...

It would have been cheaper for me to have just rebuilt my P3S .... which I am considering ripping apart with a pal of mine and making a proper FPV platform out of it.

I have to say DJI Riga Guys are good and I cannot fault them at all.

I have received information that I am surprised about ...

Item Quantity Unit Price(EUR) Total Nett(EUR)
Phantom 3 Gimbal Roll-axis ESC Board 1 7.44 7.44
Phantom 3 Video Downlink Module V14 1 90.91 90.91
Phantom 3 Roll-axis Bracket 1 5.79 5.79
Fan (Cable length=33mm) 1 26.45 26.45
Phantom 3 Main Controller Board Module (2312) 1 90.91 90.91
Phantom 3 Roll Motor 1 7.44 7.44
Phantom 3 Roll-axis Cover 1 1.65 1.65
Repair Service Fee 1 50.00 50.00
Freight: 0.00
Discount: -0
DJI Care deduction: 0.00
Sub Total Payment: 280.59
VAT(at 21%): 0.00
Grand Total Payment: 280.59

Given that the AC flew perfectly fine ... that the camera recorded, panned, tilted as commanded ... no signs of any damage or crash to any part of the AC or gear ...

The fault was failed FW change and not being able to install any FW to get working again ...

I will be fully honest here : DJI RIGA has been very good throughout and I do not wish to create any problem for them. But I am questioning DJI Netherlands stand on this and their listing of mechanical parts in the repair.

I have approx. 8 days before I go on vacation and it was planned the P3P would go with me ... given this dispute - I doubt I shall have it in time.

Now I wait to see what is conclusion of this sorry tale ....

Just been told today that nothings happened with my P3P ... that its waiting decision on action.

I will not get it back in time whatever - even if I just pay up right now.

So whats point ? I may as well just leave them to fight it out and when I get back from UK late August - see what results then.

Forum rules do not allow me to type what I think of this .................

And you will most likely not get your original drone back. I was quoted £182 for a long list of parts and repair. They then tested it and then sent me a return shipping email. It was then that I noticed a different serial no on the email. Got in touch with them to be told that when they tested it, it needed more work and therefore without telling me gave me a different one. To be fair I have flown 3 hours with the latest one. It looks brand new and so far no problems except high velocity wind warning which I understand could be a FW problem. [emoji574]️

If its a replacement - I don't particularly care to be honest .... as long as it works and does its job.

At moment I have no DJI P3 AC to fly ....

I'm new here so this may be a dumb question, but from what I've been reading it is not unusual to get back a different craft then was sent in. Considering this could they be quoting repair cost to a totally different craft? They may have a faulty check-in procedure and not be matching P3 to owner.

If you have your serial number you may be able to ask them for the serial number of the P3 they are quoting the repair for to see if they match. I don't know if it would do any good and may just add insult to injury.

Would it be possible to tell them to simply fix the FW problem and to sent it back for you to repair. Then you could also compare serial numbers.

I brought my P3A used a couple of months ago, and I'm really enjoying it, but after reading all these stories when/if I need repairs I will probably attempt them myself. I've been repairing my helicopters for several years (not a very good pilot so I've had lots of practice), and building helis and quads from scratch.

I am sorry you are going through all this but I have learned a lot, here and regroups, such as there are different versions, don't upgrade FW unless you have a problem or it has a new feature you want/need, and then to wait and not be a beta tester. I almost upgraded to new FW but decided to wait.

Hope you have a great vacation.

Well...diferent story here:

Receive my P3A after Esc errors and one of engines refuse to start...
New board, engines and suspect shell.

Did pay 0 and im happy with this.

Best resulation in your case.
