Are skins a bad idea?

Hello, I recently purchased a skin for my P3s from Amazon, just to zip it up a little, Anyways I am noticing that it has a harder time finding satellites now, it takes longer to do it’s pre flight routine, and satellite signal diminishes during flights at a spot I frequent quite often, big open field miles from any town,
Obviously and unfortunately I am going to remove the skin, it feels like it is just a nylon construction but who knows what components are in it,
Has anyone else encountered this?

Before removing the skin, try to calibrate IMU, that might resolve your problem. Sometimes we unnecessarily bother for a NON existing problem and start thinking that the change we made is causing the issue.

I had bought myself a silicone rubber like skin. I have not yet to put it on, but with this extreme cold.....lol....I just might. Would there be any issues?

The one l used is vinyl . Not sure about silicon .

Definitely do a reset . It certainly won’t hurt .

Silicone will not impair GPS reception or cause IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) issues. However, any material which contains metal such as foil, or possibly even sufficient glitter, could attenuate the GPS signal when placed on the top shell at or near center.

Yip I use skin , no issues close or far it even saved a few scratches just recent when I sorta got tangled in a flax type leaf and hurled me into a fence and broke a prop,word of advice,,don't buy super cheap ones,the laminating comes unstuck from sticker itself ,here's pic of mine and what the IMU is
