It looks like the app automatically checks for updates when there is available internet. I think dji probably just inserted that popup into the update list. So you would see it on every drone you connect because it looks for firmware updates too.
I have a P4 and decided to go to the M2P for a camera upgrade. I'm glad I did because I dont miss the big claim shell case with the big clunky remote. Not that I wont still use my P4 or XSP though.
I updated mine two years ago and it flys great so I would really think twice about a new update. I do think it's possible that they would want to ground the older drones.
Icy conditions in Iceland. Also, IMO.. I think that freezing cold weather can make the plastics of your aircraft very brittle. Just like metal, plastic can shirnk and expand with changing temperatures.
There is something that can be said about a metal moter mounted to plastic parts as well...
