Could Flat Earthers Turn Violent? (Threatening YouTube Vids)

This is my main issue with much of society in general these days. There are so many people out there who just scoff at scientists and act as if they actually know better than the people who have spent their lives studying and becoming experts at a specific discipline. If a scientific conclusion...

    Flying over animals

Thanks for the correct! I was thinking of visual positioning. It sounds like it uses a camera and sonar. So I guess as long as that's off, you shouldn't have the sonar driving the dogs crazy.

    Flying over animals

I've heard you want to have obstacle avoidance turned off when around animals as that produces a high pitch noise we can't hear that can really bother some animals. Now I've never tested it, but it sounds like good advice to follow anyway.

    Blade gard

Thanks. That was from a professor of a college chemistry class I took. We were talking about quantum physics one day (for some reason), and he said never believe anyone who says they fully understand it. I added the drone regulations part. :)

    Blade gard

There's multiple ones out there on the market. Just google "phantom drone cage" and you should see at least a few different options.

    Rant: Helicopter attacks drone

That's definitely a good point. I do sometimes wonder; of the crashes that are not pilot error, what percentage of those drop out of the sky versus drift? And as far as my original post goes, I do agree with your response. I was just trying to say that the rules/system isn't perfect and...

    Rant: Helicopter attacks drone

My issue with this is that most sUAS'es (that looks weird to type) can continue to stay at their level and just drift for potentially thousands of feet if loss of control and GPS happens. That makes it hard to set a specific area that is safe/unsafe to be in relation to people. I'm not saying I...

    Goodbye

Remember, just because you won't have a Phantom anymore doesn't mean you can't still use this site! I never fly my P3S since I got a MPP but I still come here because it has the most members/threads of any of the Pilots forums and there's a ton of general drone related info to be had.

Getting to 500 meters (1,640 feet)

Just playing devil's advocate here, but there's definitely one big reason it's useful for a photographer to fly that far. Accessibility. If you find a good take off spot and draw a 1,500' radius around it, you're rather limited on what you can actually get good shots of. However, if you draw a...

It went down and I couldn't stop it.

If I still lived in West Virginia I'd gladly search for it. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country now. Good luck!

Which model to look for animals

Yep, both Mavics are great drones at affordable prices now (almost makes me wish I'd waited buying mine... almost). The Air isn't bad, but I believe it lacks in range what the Pro and Platinum have. The Phantom 3 Standard is super cheap, but has even worse range. My vote would be Mavic Pro.

    Help Choosing Drone

Ya, I started with a Phantom 3 Standard due to the price, then eventually got a Mavic Pro Platinum for the portability and quietness.

Flying A Yunecc in Arches National Park!

This sounds like a cool idea at first, but I feel like there's one major potential issue. You take all the people that want to fly drones in these parks, and instead of them being allowed to fly whenever all spread out, they're all going to come in on the designated days. Problem is, there's...

    New to drones

As Andy9 mentioned, The Mavic is much easier to travel with (depending on how you're traveling). I have a Phantom 3 Standard and a Mavic Pro Platinum, and the size of the Mavic is SOOO much nicer. I personally would rather always have the more compact drone that does pretty much everything of...

Police seize drone that hindered emergency response to crash on I-75

While I definitely agree with you that's a problem, I question whether that's the bigger issue or it's just that most people don't really care. I think a lot of people think they're smarter than they are and they can just fly however they want and it'll be fine. So I guess it's a combination of...
