    Change of mind

I've been flying my P3P for five months, without incident and having a lot of fun. Naturally, people come to this forum to share problems and frustrations, but you shouldn't let it deter you. The one thing I will add is that all the stories about crashes etc. have made me obsessively careful...

Trying to set up a meet up in Southern California (PASADENA)

I'm a P3P owner living in Pasadena, and have flown quite a few times near the Rose Bowl - it's a great place to test things out. I'd be interested in a meeting. One thought though - I wonder how long it will be before DJI decides no one should be allowed to fly anywhere near the Rose Bowl...

    File index mode

I was looking for the "File Index Mode" setting in GO App, to specify continuity of image file numbering. It existed in DJI Pilot - I set it previously - but the P3P is now resetting numbers back to 0001 on each flight and I can no longer find the setting. Has this feature been removed?

In San Francisco (Pleasanton/Dublin) for a few days...anywhere safe to fly?

Really? No place? I was there just this weekend, and was aware of limitations over the Presidio, Golden Gate Park, stadiums, Oakland/SFO airport, but otherwise I thought it was basically 'normal rules'. I flew from Fort Mason out over the bay for shots of the city, and of the finish line of...

    Poor night shoots (II)

My mistake. I thought he was asking about stills.

    Poor night shoots (II)

I'm still working on getting nights shots just right, but the key points are: - Exposure. Your blacks are gray because the image is over exposed. Auto exposure will tend to do that. I manually set ISO and speed to get the right exposure. - Shutter speed. Your blurred image was presumably...

    Litchi help

Appreciate your help. That fixed the problem. I'm looking forward to seeing what Litchi can do (and hoping the camera controls will be forthcoming soon).

    Litchi help

After seeing the DJI waypoints solution, I decided to try Litchi and it seems to be better in many respects, although its lack of camera controls is a huge problem. I figured I could switch back and forth, taking advantage of the best features of both. However, I now find that when I start...

    Altitude settings in waypoints

Just one possibility - in waypoints, if the start position altitude (GPS) was different from the start altitude when the waypoints were defined, notify the user and ask if all waypoint heights should be adjusted accordingly.

    Altitude settings in waypoints

Following these comments about GPS accuracy, I looked into it as suggested. There are reasons having to do with the distributions of the positions of GPS satellites with respect to the receiver that reduces altitude accuracy (vs. horizontal accuracy), by a factor of 1.5 to 3 as far as I can...

    Altitude settings in waypoints

As I understand it, the P3 measures altitudes above homepoint (using barometric pressure). Thus with a waypoint recorded at, say, 100 feet altitude the P3 would know to fly to that x-y coordinate point at an altitude of 100' above the start point. However, if your homepoint for the start of...

    Using P3 on a boat?

I flew from a dive boat. Took off from deck; hand catch return. No problems.

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

OK. I confess. I wanted to know the answer to my question, but probably would not have bothered to post it, were it not for the title.

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

Two seagulls mobbed my P3 today, which made me nervous about the possibility of a collision bringing the drone down. I know others have had encounters with birds, but are there any reports of collisions, particularly any that brought down the drone?

    File naming

I was hoping for a way that did not require file name editing. It would be trivial for P3P to provide this degree of customization (not to mention allowing a four-digit index to move past 999)..
