There is a mod that allows you to connect (in my case a Hero 4 Silver) into the original camera wiring. This way you can view FPV through the DJI Go app. Message me if you need schematics. I should still have them somewhere.
Phantom 2 and Manual Mode was my friend. I used to switch to manual and let the Phantom drop, then rev the motors closer to the ground. With the removal of manual mode that option is no longer available. Now your only option is to cut your motors and crash in this situation. It's a shame DJI has...
Half the time it seems pilots think they are initiating a RTH when in fact they are cancelling one that the drone has already initiated on its own. By mashing that RTH button you could be cancelling a RTH already in play.
As long as settings for RTH are correct, I never touch my RTH button...
I have a Galaxy S2 10.1 model T810. DJI software never crashes on it. It is a quite powerful model.
However, my LG V20 phone which is DJI approved crashes about once every minute while running Go 4 software. Go figure...

I agree with the other user that your controller device isn't processing fast enough. I had to go through several devices before I settled on a Samsung S2 Tablet SM-T810 model.
If you ever move to DJI Go4 then things get even worse. Constant bugs and in flight crashes...
