    New Gimbal - no compass

so after trying to slide the bare wires of the one that was from the bird into the connector for the new one, I decided for $12 to sacrifice the new gear connector and solder the wires together. Soon as I did that, the compass values kicked in, so i resoldered them with heat shrink of each wire...

    New Gimbal - no compass

Im experianced with major repair stuff, and minor PCB stuff, but fixing cold solder joints (pad repair) is still beyond me. Since i have the spare, i figured i had no holds bar approach to the solder fix so Im trying to recover a trace to solder onto to get a reading across the 2 outside pins...

Took the compass out, one of the cold solders on the board broke, any decent way to fix it? tried to just solder it back but it breaks off the moment i touch it.

    New Gimbal - no compass

As I figured, but thought Id try. How do I replace it with the new landing gear i have without opening the whole thing.

    New Gimbal - no compass

PS: I have a set of replacement landing gear with compass, but Im pretty afraid to try to open the bird on the P3 after watching some videos of how much work it takes. Seems like the compass connection could have been placed in a better location if the landing gear is nearly expected to be replaced

    New Gimbal - no compass

The number one reason for Phantom crashes (a little surprising)

Feel like RTH crash is 1/2 and 1/2. Its a good feature for sure, but it seems like in practice its more likely to cause harm

Another one of those threads - sigh, crashed and not working

honestly I think it has less to do with reading the manual than it does with just flying experience. anything in the air goes wrong a lot faster than the ground, and if you dont have experience to understand how to compensate, youll break s**t fast. Just like any kind of racing.

I sent the gimbal off the Bock, hes going to get that up and running, and then I can remate it - hopefully its just that bit.

Well I took apart the Gimbal this morning, still saw nothing that looked damaged, but in trying to get the ribbon cable out, I didnt realize it had the latch at the back, so after pulling on it, I popped the latch, reassembled but now the gimbal hangs limp :( Really pissed at myself for all...

Hey all, I got my Phantom 3 standard the other day. However, its been a rough couple days. After some great flights, yesterday I decided to run the battery down to help it since its still new. Well it hit the 'return home' level, and decided to fly straight into my barn between my field and my...
