The 5.8 gHz frequency that DJI is using is to get around the need for a ham radio license to broadcast FPV signals. Since they are using "WIFI" instead of transmitting an actual video signal they are side stepping some FCC regulations.

One red flash means you had at least 6 satellites. You got more than 6 and the red flash went away. It is not unusual to drop a satellite every now and then. You are not seeing yellow warm up lights because you are in GPS mode. Attitude mode gives yellow warm up lights.

Also you don't want to come straight down because in some cases this means that you are putting less than 10% on the throttle. The motors will cut off and you will find that the Phantom will drop like a stone.

It depends on if you were trying to actually connect with your GoPro and have it start transmitting more than a "hello" signal. It also depends on the angle of the antenna. Streaming images over WIFI is much more likely to cause an issue than simply having the WIFI turned on.
