So went to the beach today and had a brave moment and decided to see how far out to sea I could get with the Alphas on my bird. On my first trip I went out 17,513 ft, got real nervous and brought the bird back. The app warned me off a low battery at 68%, I'm guessing it was calculating the trip...

Trust me, going out that far had me extremely nervous, even though I try to fly over fields, I still "clinch up"!!!

I hear you, I'm so hooked on these things I actually caught myself looking at the Mavic Pro and the antennas Jake can offer for it, if I bought that, my girlfriend would kill me!! Even though she's the one to blame for this addiction, she bought me a Standard for Xmas.

Yea pretty far, but there are people on here who have gone farther with just stock antennas, so many variables so I just went for the amps.

Received the P3P landing gear and attached the P3P antennas to them. Looks clean, I'm a little concerned with the compass wires, seemed like the antenna was pinching it a little, we'll see when I fly it

Yea, my standard gets close to 2 miles, have the DBS with amps and then also added the P3P antennas to the legs of the standard to get a better 2.4 signal. Figured I 'd take the next step, really wanted a Mavic Pro, but settled with the P3P.

Just ordered it last night, should get it sometime this upcoming week.

Well, the distance bug got me and went ahead and purchased a P3P. Now I have 2 P3S and a P3P, I blame all this on my girlfriend who got me a P3S for Xmas, then I purchased a 2nd one so I could have a "test/modded" drone. This forum wasn't any help, it made me spend soooo much money...

Yea, I have the antennas here already and just ordered the landing gear. I see that you had to strip some of the insulation wire from the compass, how much did you have to take off?
