hello! watch out for low flying helicopters! especially the military choppers they fly out of the canyons on the west side very low and very fast. Aside from that its pretty straight forward. Some people have gotten stopped flying in the state parks while others are allowed to fly. I like...
the state banned operating in state parks so most waimea canyon shots you see are either helicopter or illegally shot. poipu is cool but it gets windy. west side is also pretty nice but just don't go too close to PMRF. There are multiple spots to fly out along the Kapaa bike path as well as...
ahh. Thanks! its a challenge finding them. thankfully this time it was a little easier since there was a mother trying to teach her calf. Its definitely a balance. I try to be pretty conservative with my battery estimates and haven't had any close calls (knock on wood). I've looked into...
I'm able to fly pretty low. I stay at about 40-50 feet. I do notice that it cuts out intermittently between .5 - 1.5 miles. Like for this flight I just kept going and everything was fine at 2+. I haven't tried any antenna mods. I hear good things about them and I might try them next season...
it looks like you got the hang of flying over water. I agree with you though. gotta respect nature and the equipment. I always go through my logs and clean/inspect the phantom after flying out over the water. Filming the ocean/water is definitely exciting since there is always motion.
So...
This was one of the last shots of the season. This video is a compilation of everything I shot the past few months.

felt like forever, especially because as soon as the splashing stop its next to impossible to locate them. The first time I flew out to film them I was nervous. I think now I've accepted that losing the phantom might happen. Its always difficult to gauge when to return too. Its so hard to...
This was shot in Kohala on the Big Island using a phantom 3 pro. Flying in atti still took a while to get out there. Spotter kept LOS with a telescope.
