Since a failed motor during flight almost guarantees a big expense does anyone replace them after a certain number of flights (or flight time)? I have a total of about 35 miles (60km) worth of air time on my P3P - that's a long way to fly with those motors and I wonder if it's prudent to replace...
Videoing a cruise ship seems to be a rite of passage from many Phantom owners. Here's mine, made 3 days ago as Carnival Liberty departed Galveston Texas late in the afternoon (note the long shadows).
Drove down to Galveston today for a few flights and ended up at Seawolf Park. Spectacular flying in the area:

I received my long-awaited Hobby King DVR yesterday and was immediately disappointed. The remote has no effect on the unit and it goes right into "Record" mode upon power-up - although nothing is actually being recorded...probably because I can't format the SD card since I can't access the menu...
I can give you my very limited opinion...
Prior to yesterday, my FPV flights consisted of flying to a water tower 400 meters away, turning around and coming home. This with a 600mw Immersion vtx, UNO5800 rx and spironet antennas on both the quad & the rx. Clear video all the way but a bit of...
Yep, that's an odd feeling. What really seems cool to me about FPV is that for the majority of the flight time, I can't hear the Phantom's motors. Then when I bring it home via the monitor and home diamond, I see the distance reading values slowly decrease...and then there it is - that buzzing...
We're on the same page! I did my first FPV about a week ago and felt the same way - but that "I am here" diamond slowly earned my trust. My practice sessions involve a tall water tower 1400 feet away. I centered it in the monitor's view, took the P2 up to 70 meters and let her rip. Once I got to...
Before buying my FPV gear, I watched more YouTube videos than I can count of other Phantom FPVers who posted them. Many of them had smaller videos inset into the main video of the onboard camera's view/OSD info. Any info on what programs for making such videos would be appreciated. Also, how are...
